Tail Lamp----Red Alert.
Planning and considerations essential.
There are many superb model engines that have taken a great deal of skill, time and expense to construct, these are just entrancing to see, hear and smell the steam and smoke. Great and those engineers must be admired for their expertise and perseverance. Loco's of that kind are heavy and take a small team to run either on portable or permanent tracks.
MMR is safe, simple and effective but the little railways are run with seriousness through many smiles and giggles that radiate from passengers and bystanders alike. At times I become quite an actor especially when on my own performing multiple tasks. Dangers are minimal on the very short journey over around 80 feet of straight track. 99% of passengers conform to the basic rules by sitting still, feet on the train and no leaning out, with bystanders keeping away from the track.
There is quite a list of things that I must be aware of all the time though. For example two in particular. The very young ones who may suddenly start to climb off as they become fearful to the new experience. Some adults who wobble away trying to get their feet off the ground and on the train amid squeels of laughter. See risk assessment page 2 and click on the last frame. My most worrying is, now and again, some will think the equipment belongs to them and I am challenged to sustain discipline and total control let alone my blood pressure.
I feel that I can say that I have got it all just about as perfect as can be in many differing circumstances. It is great to see people liking my efforts but it can be quite exhausting. What must people think as they look at all the photo's and videos taken of the family experiencing a little trip on Mikes Mini Railway?
