The Aim of the Railway.

The aim of the Miniature Railways is to satisfy the needs of the owners hobby by operating a railway that is portable and is capable of carrying passengers, and to share the interest in a small way with others by demonstration, being interesting, educational and useful.

 Objectives to achieve the Aim.

That operations are efficient and safe by the special construction of vehicles, running to rules as identified by experience and as indicated in the Health & Safety recommendations operating miniature railways.

That the railway will operate just like the big railways, and that the assessments of risks are regularly reviewed.

That the railway is an attraction to support Fairs and Fetes etc. who’s organizers have invited the railways attendance.

That new requests must understand that established “customers” have priority when dates coincide. First come first served is not a policy.

That the inviting party does not pay for the railways hire but a donation from the railways ticket sales, as decided by the railway, will be offered to the inviting party funds.

That the railway will not run in consistent wet conditions when the rain is on going or if disrupted by persistent people who interfere in operations.

That the retained portion of the fares will be used for repairs, expenses and other initiatives which  may include donations to other causes.

Establishing the roles of Supervisor, Driver, Ticket Sales and Ticket Inspector/Guard when possible.

Being as educational as possible and answering any questions of any kind about the railway.

The visiting agreement

An invitation should always be requested by letter, in the year in question. The secretary should state the event name, date, time and venue.

That when invited to operate at an event no charge will be made to that organisation.

That the railway carries a public liability insurance.

That any income generated is entirely at the railway owners decision but if a reasonable amount is realised a donation may be offered to the event or part or the whole income to another cause as decided by the owner.

That the event contact person will be informed of the total income of fares.

That the railway cannot run in continuous wet conditions.

That the ground on which the track is to be laid is absolutely level, no inclines or dips in the ground (needs to be as close to a cricket pitch/tarmac standard). This is very important for safety reasons.
